Toronto Raptors stars DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry have long been good friends on and off the court. They share a close bond that and are evidently enjoying having each other around as seen during interviews, shootarounds and even when they sit together on the bench. However, that was apparently not the case back in 2012 when the three-time All-Star point guard landed in Toronto.
DeRozan appeared on the Woj Podcast with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski where he shared that he did not have a relationship at all with Lowry back then. He then added that he did not talk and hang out with him in their first season together, but their former teammate, Terrence Ross, claimed that it was all lies, in a comment he made on Bleacher Report’s Instagram post.
The Orlando Magic swingman played with the two for six seasons with the Raptors before getting traded last February. He witnessed the time Lowry joined them which could explain why he was able to say that DeRozan’s claim is not true. It’s still unclear who is indeed telling the truth but should Ross’ comment be, it leaves some questions to why the DeRozan would even say that in the first place.
Whatever the case may be, it’s certainly interesting to find out what explanation the Raptors shooting guard has for it. For what it’s worth, he and Lowry appear to be the best of teammates now, which has resulted to deep playoff runs the past couple of seasons as their chemistry and familiarity of each other’s games has been a big advantage to them.
