Marcus Smart wishes nothing but the best for Will Hardy after the Utah Jazz hired the former Boston Celtics assistant to be their head coach … well, except when they are playing the Beantown team.
The Jazz officially hired Hardy to replace Quin Snyder and become their next head coach after it was revealed Tuesday that they have extended an offer to him. He'll now be taking over a franchise that has plenty of unanswered questions heading to free agency, especially when it comes to the futures of Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert and the rest of the roster.
While Smart admitted that Hardy is a big loss for the Celtics, he couldn't be any happier for his now-former coach.
Big congrats Coach! Well-deserved! Gonna miss ya in ☘️ but wish you all the best unless ur playing us ha. Big things ahead for ya. https://t.co/3jFREzwdwO

Will Hardy, at 34 years old, becomes the youngest head coach in the NBA today. It is also a incredible jump for him after starting out as a video coordinator for the San Antonio Spurs until becoming an assistant coach for Gregg Popovich.
Marcus Smart is not only the Celtics player to react to the news, though. Earlier, Jayson Tatum also shared how happy he is for Hardy for the move, highlighting that it's a well-deserved promotion for the tactician.
Hardy is widely expected to bring his ability to develop players and build culture to Utah for a Jazz team that will surely need those skills inn 2022-23. Not to mention his his winning attitude, which Smart certainly hope won't show up when they meet in the regular season.
