When Donovan Mitchell threw the lob to Rudy Gobert to win Game 4 against the Dallas Mavericks, a lot of people were surprised. After all, for so long the talk has been how the Utah Jazz guard rarely passes to his French teammate.
Naturally, Mitchell was asked about the assist to Gobert and what it means. The Jazz superstar proceeded to refute those claims that he and Gobert just don't fit, adding that they have full trust in each other despite all the speculations about their relationship.
“I think it's funny, man. But it felt good, because you hear [the things that are said]. … We trust each other,” Mitchell said of the rumors and their game-winning play, per Eric Walden of The Salt Lake Tribune.
For what it's worth, there are legitimate concerns about the partnership of the Jazz duo. Donovan Mitchell averages just two passes to Rudy Gobert every game. PASSES. In terms of assists, Mitchell almost never really give it to his big man partner.

With that said, the fact that Mitchell gave it to Gobert to beat the Mavs is certainly special. Sure enough, the Jazz are also hoping it'll be the catalyst they need to start playing off each other and maximize their abilities.
The Jazz are now tied with the Mavs at 2-2 as the series shifts back to Dallas.
