Adidas-sponsored star and Utah Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell honored slain Utah student Lauren McCluskey through his game shoes last night against the Houston Rockets. McCluskey, a track athlete for the University of Utah, was shot and killed in the campus grounds just a couple of days back.
B/R Kicks posted a video showing Mitchell's inspired shoes and his remarks regarding the incident.

“After the Memphis game, I heard about that and it’s just tough. I have a little sister and for that to happen and for a mother to lose her child, her daughter especially in that way. Women nowadays have it so tough. A lot of times men are the aggressor and women are defenseless and it’s so sad to see things like that happening.”
It was indeed a class act for the young sophomore as McCluskey's death is a sad and tragic story that affected the whole community, and the sports world as well. McCluskey, a 21-year old Communications student, was shot by her former boyfriend that resulted to her death. The shooter, a 37-year old man named Melvin Rowland, was also found dead in a church outside the campus.
Donovan Mitchell, who was struggling with his shots prior to the game last night, bounced back with a 38-point outing while racking up 7 assists and 5 rebounds. It was the second win in as many losses for the Jazz. But most importantly, it came at the expense of the Rockets, a team deemed by many as the favorites to topple the Golden State Warriors this season.
