As this season progresses, Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell is playing even better and looking to make a strong case for himself to win the Rookie of the Year Award this year. He has also been the catalyst for his team during its current 10-game winning streak, including its victory on Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns.

By finishing with a team-high 24 points, to go along with four rebounds and seven assists, the 21-year-old Louisville product made history by becoming the first rookie to lead his team in scoring in 11 straight games, surpassing the mark of Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, according to ESPN Stats and Info via Elias Sports.

The Jazz are currently the hottest team in the NBA right now, and are making a move for one of the last playoff spots in the Western Conference. Their 30-28 record is good for 10th place, but are now only a game-and-a-half behind the New Orleans Pelicans for the eighth seed. Mitchell is having a very special year, with solid averages of 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.5 steals in 32.0 minutes per game, and showing everyone that he can easily be considered the biggest steal of last June's draft.

Mitchell will have a chance to further extend his personal record in the Jazz's first game after the All-Star break which will be next Friday against the Portland Trail Blazers. With how he has been performing during this stretch, it won't be surprising if he top-scores once again for his team and make it 12 games in a row.
