Utah Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell wants people to “stay inside” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Mitchell says he's seeing way too many people out and about despite the dangers of COVID-19.

Mitchell and his Jazz teammate Rudy Gobert both tested positive for the coronavirus last week. The NBA suspended play as soon as Gobert's test results became known.

Probably the scariest thing about the coronavirus is how deceptive it is. Mitchell says he has been feeling fine despite having it. The Jazz All-Star shooting guard is also in good spirits after getting the bad news last week, and he wants to make sure he's doing all he can with his platform to educate people about the virus.

Sports fans desperately want their teams back playing. However, sports takes a back seat right now. Until the virus dies down, people should take Mitchell's advice and stay inside.

Of course, it's easier said than done, as life and bills go on despite the virus.

The NBA could return in June or July. Mitchell and the Jazz were in the fourth spot in the Western Conference standings before the season was suspended.

Mitchell, who made his first All-Star team this season, was averaging 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Jazz in 63 games. The high-flyer was shooting 45.3 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 85.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Here's to hoping that the coronavirus goes away soon, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert get healthy, and sports comes back.
