Utah Jazz shooting guard Donovan Mitchell was upset at center Rudy Gobert in March after the Stifle Tower jokingly touched reporters' mics and teammates' belongings in the locker room before contracting COVID-19.

However, according to Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report, Mitchell was also mad at Gobert for potentially putting more vulnerable members of the Jazz organization at risk of COVID-19.

According to league sources, he apparently was angry with Gobert not just for his belief Gobert infected him, thereby forcing him to undergo the uncomfortable test procedure and remain in quarantine for 14 days, but also for potentially putting more vulnerable members of the Jazz organization at risk.

“Donovan is probably one of the smartest, most empathetic players in the league,” one rival GM says.

Both Mitchell and Gobert have said they are ready to move on from the March episode and help the Jazz win the championship down in Orlando, Florida. It's highly doubtful Utah will look to trade Gobert unless Mitchell tells management he wants the center gone.

The Jazz are expected to sign Mitchell to a contract extension this offseason, so the high-flyer isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Once the 2020 playoffs start after the conclusion of the seeding games, the Jazz will ultimately go as far as Mitchell and Gobert can take them. Mitchell is averaging 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists on the season, while Gobert is putting up 15.1 points, 13.7 boards and 2.0 blocks.
