With more than half of the total games this season already played, some things have been made clear in the NBA. The Golden State Warriors continue to dominate the standings, living up to expectations as the title favorites, James Harden is making a strong case to win the MVP award, and Donovan Mitchell is doing the same for the Rookie of the Year award.
While Ben Simmons may have something to say about that, the Utah Jazz guard is getting even better as the season progresses. Mitchell recently made history by becoming the first rookie in NBA history to lead his team in scoring in an 11-game winning streak, and he has also shown his unique skill set and athleticism by pulling off some highlight-worthy dunks.
However, on Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns, the 21-year-old Louisville product proved that he is a clutch performer as well, knocking down a turnaround 3-pointer that is usually reserved for a game of HORSE.

The play only goes to show why many are considering Mitchell as the steal of the draft. He was not one of the highly-touted prospects last June, falling to the Nuggets at the 13th overall selection who then traded him to the Jazz. Mitchell has since rewarded their trust with impressive performances night in and night out, and has made it possible for the team to vie for one of the last playoff spots in the Western Conference.
His averages of 19.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 32.1 minutes per game is proof that he is one of the best rookies this year.
