The Utah Jazz have inquired about Houston Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley after hearing of the team's willingness to make him, guard Lou Williams and forward Ryan Anderson available for trade talks, according to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune.

The Jazz are reportedly one of 12 teams that have reached out to the Rockets in hopes of acquiring his services.

In a league where there can't be enough defense or three-point shooting, Utah could benefit from a scrappy three-and-D prototypical point guard that plays his heart out on a nightly basis.

General manager Dennis Lindsey is actively shopping for a veteran point guard, a role which Beverley would fit like a glove.

Sources told Jones that if the Jazz land the veteran floor general they're looking for, it doesn't necessarily get in the way of the team trying to retain starting point guard George Hill, who is coming off the best season of his career and is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Beverley is slated to make $5.5 million next season, making the Jazz a candidate to absorb his salary until the following Friday without the need to send a player back in return. The Jazz will pick 24th and 30th during Thursday's NBA Draft.
