The beef between Paul Pierce and Draymond Green extends back a few years.

It's mostly one of trash talk, sometimes good-natured, sometimes savage. But at all times, their back-and-forth comments are always funny and entertaining for the fans and media alike.

On Wednesday, Green added more fuel to the duel, commenting on the fact that Pierce once joined up with two other Hall of Fame-level players in order to win a championship, per Bleacher Report.

This may seem like shade — correction: it is shade — but it's also incredibly true. Pierce was a very good player who led a Boston Celtics team, but never got over the hump in any meaningful way. But then Doc Rivers joined as head coach as Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett were traded there.

What resulted was a turnaround of epic proportions from one year to the next and a championship in 2008 over a Los Angeles Lakers team that was favored to win that title.

But that championship cemented Pierce's legacy as a champion and it can never be taken away from him. His last few years in the league don't really count, in a way. But even though Pierce is widely considered one of the greatest Celtics ever, Green still had a job for him last year after he announced his retirement.

There will be people to say Green should not be talking because he plays with the likes of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson. But other than Durant, most of the Warriors core was drafted and developed by the franchise. The comparison is not apples to apples.
