Kevin Durant has been named GQ's Champion of the Year after a torrid 15-1 postseason run with the Golden State Warriors amid a tumultuous season and offseason, which was centered on his decision to leave Oklahoma City after nine years with the Thunder to seek a different road.

The four-time scoring champion found a way to seamlessly fit with an already star-studded team and battled through injuries in the regular season and early in the playoffs to become the missing piece this team needed.

Kevin Durant's numbers in the NBA Finals were eye-popping, averaging 35.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 blocks, and a steal per game — including a memorable pull-up 3-pointer over LeBron James in the closing seconds of Game 3 to round out his best playoff performance to date.

The 29-year-old forward persevered despite the constant criticism from the media, former players, and even some of his peers — even managing to block out James' fangirl Rihanna who was heckling the Warriors superstar in the highest stage to put out a 30-plus-point performances in each of his outings.

GQ will release his cover story on Thursday prior to the 22nd annual Men of the Year covers for the December edition of the celebrated magazine. Among the other honorees are former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, late-night show host Stephen Colbert, and Israeli actress/model Gal Gadot.
