Washington Wizards star guard Bradley Beal just claimed a historic scoring record in franchise history — a milestone that his former teammate John Wall wasn't able to achieve.

Beal became the second player in Wizards history to reach 13,000 points on Sunday, further establishing his mark as a franchise legend.

It's been a strange year for Beal and the Wizards. After all, Beal has been showing off how potent of a scorer he is. As of this writing, he's the second-best scorer in the league behind Stephen Curry (31.2 points per game), averaging 31.1 points per night. It will go down the wire to find out who'll be the scoring champion of the 2020-21 NBA season.

But Beal's offensive outbursts haven't always yielded favorable results. One good example is his 60-point explosion — a career-high — in a heartbreaking 141-136 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. He's also had several 40+ point outbursts that came in losses.

This led to several trade rumors especially early in the season. It was all understandable if Beal wanted out of Washington to move to a team that can actually win. Yet amid all the drama, Beal made it clear that he wants to stay. He believes that he can win donning the Wizards jersey.

As of this writing, they sport a 27-33 record and enter Sunday's game on a eight-game winning streak. Time will only tell if the Wizards can battle their way into the play-in tourney. But with Beal as consistent as ever and the rest of the squad following his lead, they have a pretty good shot.
