It was that kind of night for Washington Wizards superstar Bradley Beal. He was once again cooking on Wednesday as they took a trip and visited the Milwaukee Bucks. The NBA's second-leading scorer dropped a 42-piece against the Bucks and has now put himself at the top of the Wizards' record books for most 40-point games.
Beal's latest explosion was his 29th career game of scoring at least 40 points, putting him past fellow high-scoring guard Agent 0 himself, Gilbert Arenas (via Chase Hughes of NBCS Washington).
Bradley Beal has passed Gilbert Arenas on the Wizards/Bullets franchise list with his 29th career 40-point game, as pointed out on the NBCSW broadcast.

But as impressive as his Beal's line was, the Wizards once again fell short. Despite his scoring outburst, as well as another triple-double performance from Russell Westbrook, the Wizards suffered another heartbreaking loss, 135-134. This, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic, has basically been the story of the season for the DC-based unit.

The new Wizards either win the game or lose by one possession. That’s how it goes.
Since April 12, the Wizards are 11-3. The three losses are by 3 to the Spurs in OT, by 1 to the Mavs and now by 1 to the Bucks.

Beal was the catalyst of a late surge against the Bucks on Wednesday, draining two triples in the game's last minute to bring the Wizards to within striking distance. His second three-pointer came with just five seconds to go. The Wizards had one last heave in them to try and steal the game but Garrison Matthew's 50-foot prayer rattled out.

This pretty much sums up the entire 2020-21 campaign for the Wizards. It's been Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook rallying the troops but somehow, they always end up grabbing the short end of the stick in close games. Their latest loss tied them with the Indiana Pacers at the ninth spot of the Eastern Conference as both teams try to cement their spot in the play-in tournament.
