The Washington Wizards were hoping to sneak into the Eastern Conference contender conversation as a dark-horse candidate for the throne, but their horrid start to the season has raised plenty of questions about their potential. Former Wizard and current Memphis Grizzlies guard Garrett Temple spoke about his concerns to the All-Star tandem of Bradley Beal and John Wall, letting them know he has seen more problems than the naked eye lets on.

“Yeah, I was talking to Brad,” said Temple after helping his team hand the Wizards their sixth loss of their young season, according to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post. “That’s like my younger brother, literally. I spent four years with him, continue to still be a really good friend of mine till this day.

“Just telling him to try to figure out a way to get this together. They have too much talent to, you know, have this record. He knows that. I was saying the same thing to John.”

The Wizards have gotten off to a horrendous 1-6 start, losing now four in a row after a 144-122 defeat at the hands of the defending champion Golden State Warriors left them discombobulated. After a 22-point loss last Wednesday, the Wizards have lost a close affair against the Sacramento Kings (116-112) and taken a 32-point beating at the hands of the LA Clippers before a 12-point loss to the Grizzlies, finishing their early-season West Coast road trip 1-4.

Yet Temple sees more than the noticeable defensive woes that have plagued this team, but also a lack of offensive identity that could cause problems if the team fails to figure it out before it's too late.

“It’s just a matter of defensively, they’re not cohesive,” said Temple. “On the offensive end, I don’t know if they know their identity yet. But I think defensively is where they’re not as cohesive as they should be. That’s what they got to figure out.”

The Wizards will get yet another tough test to figure out their identity at both ends, this time on national TV — taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder at home in an ESPN game. Dwight Howard is expected to make his Wizards debut.
