Washington Wizards forward Rui Hachimura has not played so far in 2021, a season in which his team has experienced more winning than ever before in his short time in the NBA. After finishing the season on a high note with two straight twenty-point playoff games in the Wizards' first-round playoff exit to the Philadelphia 76ers, Hachimura was ruled out for the first month of the season with an eye infection called “bi-lateral epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC.) With the scary infection now a thing of the past, Hachimura will look to join his Wizards teammates that are 11-6 on the year but have lost three of their last four games.

Hachimura also steps into a team that has filled in for him admirably, begging the question–is Hachimura a starter on this team? Kyle Kuzma has shown his rebounding is invaluable to this Wizards team so he is likely taking up the starter's minutes at the power forward position. That leaves the small forward position for Hachimura to occupy, the problem with that is that Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been playing that position and has been playing excellent on-ball defense. If the Wizards want to insert Hachimura into that spot they have to be willing to sacrifice a little defense…assuming Hachimura hasn't made strides there in the off-season.
