Washington Wizards point guard John Wall is starting 2018 in style. He’s posted identical lines of 25 points and nine assists in each of his first two games of the New Year. Easily the most stylish two points of the 25 he dropped against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night was this breakaway windmill slam.

Wall quickly sniffed out what Grizzlies rookie Dillon Brooks was planning to do as he shot ahead of Marc Gasol to pick off Brooks’ lazy pass — one of his four steals of the night. It was basically all over from there.

But ever the showman, Wall decided to add to the degree of difficulty of what should’ve been a simple two points as he dropped a delicious lefty windmill jam. There aren't a lot of point guards in the league who could pull that off, and Wall did it with some ease.

John Wall put the Wizards up by 11 points at that point as they looked on course for another comfortable win. They made things harder for themselves when they allowed the Grizzlies to come back, but they nevertheless clung on for the win.

Wall looks back to his best since missing nine games due to a knee injury. He’s averaging 22 points, 3.8 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks in the Wizards’ recent four-game winning streak. Washington has gone 9-3 in the 12 games since his return.

As long as John Wall keeps playing like his All-Star-caliber self, the Wizards should continue to challenge for the top four spots in the Eastern Conference.
