The March Madness tournament has been filled with upsets and buzzer-beaters, as it's been one of the most electrifying postseasons in NCAA college basketball history. However, not all news is good news, as the college basketball world mourns the loss of Oscar Frayer.

Frayer played for the Grand Canyon Antelopes and was able to help his team make an appearance in the March Madness tournament this year. However, after a horrific car crash, Oscar Frayer passed away just three days after playing in the tournament, per TMZ Sports.

Frayer was one of three people riding inside of an SUV at around 2:30 AM Tuesday in Lodi, Calif. when California Highway Patrol officials said it veered off the road and slammed into a CHP patrol vehicle.

Officials say the SUV then continued onward, struck a tree and became fully engulfed in flames. All 3 passengers in the SUV — which included Frayer's older sister, Andrea Moore — tragically died.

Frayer is known to be the most accomplished player in GCU basketball history. During his time at GCU, Frayer averaged 8.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. School officials and coaches spoke very highly of Frayer, saying, “He was the heartbeat of our team with his vibrant, energetic personality,” GCU men's basketball head coach Bryce Drew said.

A truly sad moment for everyone involved. It's possible the NCAA honors Frayer in some way throughout the rest of the tournament as a way to offer their condolences.

Frayer will surely be missed and was a true fan of basketball. He tweeted a message thanking GCU for his time in the school, as it was his senior year. RIP to Oscar Frayer.
