The SEC may not have seen the best out of Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young just yet.

Speaking at this year’s SEC Media Days, Young touched on his early goals for the upcoming 2022 campaign in what will be his junior year. After a season where he took home the 2021 Heisman Trophy with a staggering 684 total first-place votes, the versatile passer sees that he can still can take his play at the quarterback position to another level.

“I don’t feel like I’m complete,” Young said.

Young simply had his way in leading the Crimson Tide offense last season. He capped off the campaign ranking at first among all SEC passers in multiple stats, from passing touchdowns (47) to passing yards (4,872). He orchestrated numerous standout performances over the course of the season, including his three passing touchdown outing in the SEC title game victory against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Georgia would eventually avenge the defeat, coming away with a dramatic win over the Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff national title game. For Young, he is using the loss as fuel heading into what may end up being his final season as the starting quarterback for the SEC powerhouse.

“We didn’t get it done this year,” Young said. “I definitely have a lot of motivation, a lot of fuel, and I think we have that as a team. I think it’s been about making sure that, as a team, we’re doing the little things right and we’re working together and trusting the process. That’s been big for us this offseason. It’s gonna be a big thing for us throughout the year.

“It’s definitely fuel to the fire.”

Much attention sure is set to be on whether Young will end up being among the finalists for this year's Heisman Trophy honor. A pair of strong showings in Alabama’s opening two games against Utah State and Texas may bode well for his odds to be an early Heisman Trophy contender. He did just that last year, logging 1,124 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, and a mere one interception thrown in the team’s first four contests of the campaign.
