The Iowa State Cyclones might not exactly have the uniform style of the Oregon Ducks, but the football program is about to debut some pretty sweet helmets.
Enough of this talking tomfoolery. You did not enter this post to read words of some handsome Internet Scribbler. You came here to witness the new “Cyclone” helmet Iowa State will be debuting this weekend. Here is this wonderful, stunning and mostly useful piece of gear:

Per a school release, the team will unveil the new ‘Cyclone’ helmet decal (see above) as part of head coach Matt Campbell’s latest iteration of the team’s “football identity.”

“The new Cyclone logo was created by Joe Bosack & Co. this summer to serve as a nickname logo for the athletics department. The I-State mark will continue to be Iowa State’s primary athletics mark. The athletics department will also continue to include logos of Cy as a mascot mark in its portfolio.”
What in the heck does anyone ever mean when talking about having a football identity? Is it different than a normal one? Like, do Iowa State players trot about campus as normal humans during school hours, then morph into differing versions of Batman?
Yes. Yes. I know what coaches think they mean when they talk about identity, but with each roster having a billion kids on it, it seems more logical that there would be a few identities per locker room. Eh, what do I know? I am just someone who really likes that helmet.
