NBA stars often tread carefully when asked about their free agency plans for future seasons. After all, when you're still under contract with your current team, any talk of a potential move could serve as a distraction for the present season. Brooklyn Nets center Andre Drummond was in no mood for such frivolities.

Andre Drummond spoke out on Brooklyn's decision to keep third-year big man Nic Claxton at the NBA trade deadline. In doing so, he was vocal on where his head is at when it comes to free agency.

“If we’re all being honest, I’m only here til the rest of the season. Who knows what’s gonna happen in the off-season? So they need a guy like (Nic),” Andre Drummond said of Claxton.

While the optics aren't necessarily great, Andre Drummond was just keeping it real while also pumping up his younger teammate. Drummond, who's somehow still just 28, will likely seek a bigger payday than what the Nets would be able to offer. Brooklyn currently owns one of the highest payrolls in the entire NBA and will likely be unable to offer him anything substantial.

Drummond later on reacted to his words being taken out of context. One NBA Twitter account posted his quote while leaving out the bit about Claxton, which was the main reason he made the statement in the first place. The Nets big man was vocal on it in a later tweet.

“Weirdo vibes… I use to respect your page , but you are no longer credible . Trying to capitalize on false info …,” said the Nets center.

The final years before turning 30 are typically seen as an NBA player's last chance at a hefty contract offer. And while Andre Drummond's stock has gone down since his days as an All-Star, he'll likely still have that same mindset.
