Free agent forward Carmelo Anthony is thrilled by the idea of possibly teaming up with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant in Brooklyn.

Melo and the Brooklyn Nets reportedly have mutual interest in each other, with Irving and Durant even pushing the team to sign the former NBA scoring champion.

Anthony has seen the reports, and he can't help but be excited about the prospect of joining his buddies in their bid to win the NBA title. Melo added that it's “bigger than basketball” and called Irving and Durant “family.”

“That's family,” Melo told TMZ Sports. “So, that's bigger than basketball. If something happens, something's gonna happen.”

Anthony has been out of the NBA since his 10-game stint with the Houston Rockets last season. So far, only the Nets appear to have significant interest in adding Melo to their roster.

With Durant likely out for the whole 2019-20 season and Wilson Chandler suspended for 25 games, Melo would provide the Nets with some much-needed depth and scoring boost . He may no longer be the elite scoring machine he once was, but there's no doubt he can still put up solid numbers. In his brief time with Houston, he averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game on 40.5 percent shooting.
