Carmelo Anthony remains a free agent. However, it sounds like a few members of the Brooklyn Nets are interested in bringing him aboard, including Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

Anthony was in New York on Thursday for a workout session with a group of New York Knicks. He recently worked out with some Nets players, and he reportedly looked “great.”

Via Frank Isola of The Athletic:

The Brooklyn Nets remain interested in potentially signing Anthony, who recently trained with a group of their players in Los Angeles, including Kyrie Irving. In fact, one source told The Athletic that Irving and Kevin Durant, who both joined the Nets in July, are “pushing” the club to sign Anthony.

Anthony, a 10-time All-Star who's now 35 years of age, could be a fine addition to the Nets' roster, but the team would need to find a suitable spot for him. If he is signed, he could make an attempt to fill some minutes at the forward positions, as Kevin Durant will be recovering from an Achilles injury and Wilson Chandler was just suspended for 25 games.

Melo played in just 10 games last season with the Houston Rockets (two starts), racking up averages of 13.4 points on 40.5 percent shooting from the field (32.8 percent from beyond the arc) and 5.4 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per outing.

Those stats are a far cry from the numbers he posted during his prime, but Anthony's career could be revived in Brooklyn. For now, we'll have to wait and see if the Nets pull the trigger.
