The Brooklyn Nets pulled off a huge comeback victory against the New York Knicks Wednesday night. During the game, some Knicks fans in Madison Square Garden apparently had some choice words for Nets superstar Kyrie Irving. Irving was not about to take it though, as he was seen having words back with a fan. The problem is, he had them with the wrong fan. On top of that, after the game while clearing that up, Irving tossed just about all east coast fans under the bus.

ClutchPoints reporter Dave Early captured Irving's comments after the game.

“East coast basketball at its finest, people just yelling random s**t from the crowd. Wanted a reaction, they got one. I think I tapped the wrong person. So I apologize to the random guy I tapped. He looked at me with a big surprising look on his face… I was just fed up with our performance.”

Irving did however then go on to provide further context on his comments about east coast and New York fans.

“I've dealt with this east coast type attitude… since I was about seven or eight years old… being a Jersey kid, not being respected from New York until I stopped giving an “‘F.”‘ Irving continued: “It's always a mutual respect across the basketball culture out here.”

The northeast has long since been known for having some of the most die-hard fans in the country. The Philadelphia, New York, Boston areas have some of the most difficult media to deal with, and fans that are unrelenting. Knowing Irving grew up in it, it makes sense that he has an appreciation for it.
