Since the Memphis Grizzlies had no scheduled games on Christmas Day, Ja Morant spent the holiday as a willing spectator during the marquee matchup between Eastern powerhouse teams Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics. Much like most fans, last year's Rookie of The Year was left enamored by the latest dynamic duo in the league in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

The Nets superstars combined for 66 points as Brooklyn easily took down Boston, 123-95, at TD Garden on Friday.

Morant couldn't help but gush over the instant chemistry between Durant and Irving, who did not suit up together last season due to injuries.

The Nets showed they mean business from the opening tip, as Kyrie Irving punished his old team with a game-high 37 points on 13-of-21 shooting from the field and a blistering 7-for-10 from downtown. Uncle Drew also recorded eight assists, six rebounds, and one steal in 33 minutes. Kevin Durant, meanwhile, was practically automatic all night, pouring in 29 points, four boards, three assists, and two steals in 33 minutes. Like Irving, KD put up an efficient outing from the field (9-of-16) and long-distance (3-for-4).

Brooklyn has now moved to 2-0 this season after breaking several franchise feats in their season opener against the Golden State Warriors.

Ja Morant, who is playing in just his second season in the league, is still getting used to seeing his idols turn into his rivals. The 21-year-old guard also put up big numbers to start the 2020-21 campaign, dropping a career-high 44 points along with nine assists, two rebounds, two steals, and one block in Memphis' 119-131 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
