Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson will not be present at Tuesday's press conference, according to a report from Ian Begley of SNYtv. Instead, he's by the side of Kyrie Irving, who took an inadvertent elbow during a pick-up game.

At this point, the severity of Irving's injury is not clear. Atkinson will reportedly accompany the six-time All-Star during his medical examination.

Irving joined the Nets this summer, agreeing to the terms of a four-year, $141 million deal. By most accounts, it was a solid acquisition for the team.

Uncle Drew wasn't the only marquees player to sign with the Nets this offseason, though. Kevin Durant decided to join Irving in Brooklyn. However, the Durantula will likely miss most (if not all) of the coming season as he recovers from an ACL injury.

Irving made 67 appearances with the Celtics last season (all starts), racking up averages of 23.8 points on 48.7 percent shooting from the field (40.1 percent from beyond the arc), 6.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 33.0 minutes per outing.

The Nets finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 42-40 overall record, which earned the team a No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Unfortunately, though, Brooklyn was defeated by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, 4-1.

Hopefully, Irving's injury isn't serious and he'll be ready to go for training camp. We'll keep you posted with more information as it becomes available.
