The Brooklyn Nets suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday behind an epic game-winner courtesy of new Mavs recruit Spencer Dinwiddie. Kevin Durant and Co. had a one-point lead with just seconds remaining, but Dinwiddie made sure it was Dallas who was coming home with the victory in this one.

After the game, Durant shared his honest thoughts on Dinwiddie's buzzer-beating triple. According to KD, such are just the breaks of the game:

“I felt there was an opportunity for us to get the ball out of Luka's hands with 30 seconds on the clock,” Durant said, via Dave Early of ClutchPoints. “Then they rushed their pass and they rushed their shot. I thought the probabilities on making that shot was pretty low, but he made a great shot.”

Durant felt like the Nets did the right thing by forcing Luka Doncic to give up the ball. The Mavs superstar was cooking in this one, dropping a game-high 37 points on 14-of-26 shooting. The Nets had Dinwiddie covered in the wing, too, but the Mavs guard just wasn't missing his last-second heave:

As you can see in the clip, Dinwiddie was actually KD's man. Durant decided to double Luka at the top of the key, thereby giving Dinwiddie just enough time to launch a 3-point attempt at the buzzer. Goran Dragic tried to contest Dinwiddie's shot, but it was too little, too late. This was Spencer Dinwiddie's second consecutive game-winner for the Mavs after his heroics against the Celtics on Sunday.

Durant clearly doesn't regret his decision to leave Dinwiddie, though. KD is adamant that it was the right play:

“Like I've been saying it's a make-or-miss league, if he missed that it's great defense by us,” KD added. “But that's why he gets paid $20 million a year to make them shots. Gotta give 'em credit.”

The Mavs just snapped Brooklyn's four-game winning streak here. Unfortunately for the Nets, they didn't have the red-hot Kyrie Irving in this one. They play their next two games at home therefore Durant will need to put this team on his shoulders yet again.
