Stephen A. Smith had a rather spicy Kevin Durant take amid the Brooklyn Nets' current losing streak. KD made sure to respond.

The controversial First Take host claimed that if Kevin Durant can't put it together after joining forces on the Nets with James Harden and Kyrie Irving, his legacy will definitely be tarnished.

“If [the Nets] do not win a championship, do you understand that Kevin Durant is on the verge for being recognized more so for the guy that left Steph Curry to go with Kyrie Irving, than he is for the two chips and two finals MVP? I didn't say we'll forget him. I didn't say we'll diminish him because he's a champion … but I'm saying, headline, what he'll be known more for.”

Was anyone surprised that Kevin Durant saw the hot take on Twitter and also responded? The Nets star took out his thesaurus and responded with one word – “Egregious.”

Stephen A. Smith never shies away from his polarizing takes.

But agree with him or not, another championship ring on a non-Golden State Warriors team definitely wouldn't hurt in propping up Kevin Durant's already stellar resume. If the Nets can stay healthy come playoff time, KD and Co. have as good a chance as anyone.
