The drama surrounding the Brooklyn Nets and the city of New York has reached new heights recently. Despite some of the current vaccination rules being loosened, star Kyrie Irving is still unable to play in home games for the team. It's led some of his teammates (most notably, Kevin Durant) to call out the city's mayor, Eric Adams.

Unfortunately for the team, Eric Adams isn't going to loosen the city's rules for Kyrie Irving. During a public speech, a heckler in the crowd asked him about the Nets star not being able to play in the city. The New York City mayor corrected the heckler, saying that Irving was allowed to play… so long as he gets vaccinated. (via Chris Milholen)

In theory, the solution to the Nets' Kyrie problem is simple: just get vaccinated. His unvaccinated status is the only thing holding him back from getting to play fully in the NBA. Plenty of other NBA stars have gotten their shots despite their initial reluctance, such as Bradley Beal and Andrew Wiggins. If they can do it, surely Kyrie can do it as well.

However, Irving's refusal to get the vaccine is well-documented. It's quite unclear what his exact reasons for his reluctance, but the Nets star feels strongly about this topic. So much so that he's willing to sit out games to avoid getting the vaccine. It's a situation that has frustrated both fans and some players.

As the NBA season is heading into the playoffs, the questions surrounding Kyrie Irving only grow stronger. With a legitimate chance at a title on the line, will the Nets star finally cave and get the shot for himself? Or will he continue his stand against the vaccine and sit out at least half of the team's playoff games?
