The Brooklyn Nets have found themselves in an undesirable spot in the 2022 NBA offseason. Their dreams for a championship was instantly squashed when both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving asked for a trade. Now, the team is desperately trying to salvage what is seemingly a lost situation for them.

… or is it? Nic Claxton seemingly breathed some hope into the Nets when he revealed that he was still in contact with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. The center also said that the team has some unfinished business to take care of next season, regardless of who's playing or not. (via Alex Schiffer)

Don't go ask Claxton to recruit his stars back to the Nets, though. The center jested that recruitment was not what he was being paid to do in Brooklyn.

Claxton also revealed the hilarious place where he found out about his teammate's trade request.

On a more serious note, there's a very real possibility that Durant and/or Irving will play for the Nets next season. Durant's market has seemingly gone cold in the last few days, as the team has a large asking price for the star. It's the logical move for the front office: don't settle for a bleh offer for a top-10 player in the league. Durant could very well suit up for Nets next season, and then get traded as a team becomes desperate enough for his services.

Irving, on the other hand, is a different story. The Los Angeles Lakers has expressed interest in trading for the star point guard to reunite him with LeBron James. There's a greater chance that LA goes all in on Irving and shell out all their assets for the star, especially considering the most recent reports.

Joe Tsai and Sean Marks are making the best of quite possibly the worst hand that could be dealt to them. We'll see how the Nets navigate this precarious situation.
