Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant will reportedly miss at least a couple more weeks before ramping up his on-court activity. Durant has been out since Feb. 13 due to a nagging hamstring injury. According to Brian Lewis of The New York Post, a medical expert weighed in on Durant's ailment and confirmed that his injury needs more time to fully heal.

As a matter of fact, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Laith Jazrawi said six weeks is the minimum timeline he gives patients for returning from such an injury. Since its one of the biggest muscle tendons in the body — crossing the knee joint and connecting to the pelvis — the hamstring is notoriously tough to rest.

“It’s almost involved in every movement, every sort of twisting and cutting. So, it’s so hard to manage these patients, rest it or even rehab it because it’s just such a big muscle unit that resting it is almost impossible. It’s very difficult,” said Jazrawi, chief of the Division of Sports Medicine at NYU Langone Health said before the Nets’ 121-113 loss to the Magic on Friday night. “Anytime you engage, do a sprint or cut quickly, the hamstrings fire.

Though he's looked fantastic in his return so far, Durant just returned from a very serious Achilles tear. The Nets are understandably exercising extra caution with the two-time NBA champion and they'd ideally like him to heal up completely before taking the court once again. Taking the advice of Dr. Jazrawi should be the best course of action for Brooklyn if they want to be at full strength come playoff time.

In the meantime, James Harden and Kyrie Irving will need to man the ship before waiting for the former league MVP to come back. The two All-Star guards are more than capable of carrying the load and keeping the Nets near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
