Kevin Durant surprised many by requesting a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Many teams have already inquired about the superstar since his trade request became public. However, acquiring someone as talented as KD will come at a steep cost. ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that the Nets want a young player and 3 or more first round draft picks in a Durant trade.

This asking price is understandable given the fact that Durant is arguably the NBA's best player. At 33 years old, KD clearly still has plenty left in the tank. He is fresh off of a 2021-2022 campaign that saw him average 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists. He shot 51.8 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from beyond the arc, and added a 91 percent free throw percentage for good measure.

Kevin Durant is going to make the team he is traded to an instant contender. And the steep asking price likely won't drive many teams away given KD's star in the league.

The 76ers, Suns, Heat, Celtics, and Blazers are just a few of the teams that have been listed as potential landing destinations for KD. But many interested teams simply don't have the assets or the cap space to make a Durant trade come to fruition. Teams need to put together packages that work from a financial perspective while also catching the Nets' interest.

And don't expect the Nets to settle in Kevin Durant trade discussions. They want to cash in on his value. It will be interesting to follow this story moving forward.

Durant is expected to be traded sooner than later. We will continue providing updates in reference to Durant and the trade market.
