The Brooklyn Nets are once again on the verge of squandering their immense talent. While Kyrie Irving's future hangs in the balance, the front office has to get to work retooling the roster. One player that would be a strong addition is P.J. Tucker, who is set to hit NBA free agency.

According to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News, the Nets are expressing interest in Tucker, a good friend of Kevin Durant. Although Tucker has teams that are better and less full of drama that he could sign with, being so close with Durant could give Brooklyn a leg up in the race for his services.

Playing with his good friend, Durant, however, would be the draw in Brooklyn, as would joining a team positioned as a perennial contender knocking on the door of an NBA championship with every year they surround Durant with the requisite level of star power needed to compete for a title.

Tucker and Durant would give the Nets a solid combination in the forward spots. Although the two have gone at it plenty of times in the playoffs, they have immense respect for one another. The Nets could use someone who brings as much competitive fire as Tucker does.

Brooklyn will have a lot more work to do in order to give Tucker confidence in the organization. They will have to rectify the situation with Irving or find another star to take his place amid NBA free agency. It will be super tough to pull off but they at least have someone in the organization who is close to him.
