The term is “gym rat” and Buddy Hield certainly is one.

Hardwork got Hield where he is today. This year's lottery pick of the New Orleans Pelicans grew into a star at college for the University of Oklahoma. It took him four years, but he blossomed into the nation's leading scorer, one of the best outside shooters in the country and helped lead the Sooners to the Final Four.

The Pelicans are happy to have him. They just have to set some boundaries for the young fella.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry had this to say on Sirius XM Radio:

We have had to tell (Buddy Hield) more than once that he can't come back to the gym at night, or else he won't leave.”

That's a good problem to have.

Hield's pregame shooting routine while at OU made headlines ones the team started to get more media attention and people started to see the kind of work he put in.

That is pretty intense.

Hield enters the NBA a little older than most players and the Pelicans expect he should be able to contribute pretty quickly. He definitely has NBA range and then some, he just needs to prove he can do other things on offense and survive on defense as well.

One thing the Pelicans don't have to worry about is if Hield is going to put in the work to get better.
