As Marshawn Lynch enters free agency, prospective teams are looking into taking him on. Are the New York Jets a good destination?

Lynch and the Jets have a bit of history with one another, and not all of it is good. Fans will recall that, a few years ago, Lynch and the Raiders dominated the Jets, causing Lynch to launch into a sideline dance that was broadcasted to the world, thanks to an opportune Jumbotron broadcast.

And per ESPN, there were a few Jets that were unhappy about it all.

“We're upset because it seems like he was rubbing it in our face,” nose tackle Steve McLendon said. “But he's winning, man. He can do whatever he wants to do.” Linebacker Darron Lee added, “It's their house — they can do whatever they wants — but as a competitor, as a defender, you don't like to see that type of stuff. It's demoralizing, but we have to bow up and keep fighting.”

But the team seems happy to let bygones be bygones, especially when we consider what a great player Marshawn Lynch is. The New York ABC affiliate, in fact, thinks he's the best possibility for the Jets to have a championship run in the new season.

But suppose Le'Veon Bell — another on the free agency market — goes to the Raiders and Lynch goes to the Jets. Is this possible?

The answer, in a word, is yes. The Raiders are in for a bit of a rebuild, and it's going to take a while. The key factor behind this all is, of course, is John Morton, who is formerly the Jets' offensive coordinator. According to USA Today, he's the one responsible for any sort of success that the Raiders may have.

“This comes as no surprise, as Morton and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden have a lot of history together. Back when Morton was a wide receiver with the Packers practice squad, Gruden was the wide receivers coach. Additionally, Morton was on Gruden’s staff as an offensive assistant and tight ends coach with the Raiders from 2002-2004.”

Ultimately, Marshawn Lynch may end up going one more round with the Raiders, especially since he's the team's favorite child, in a manner of speaking. However, if he does end up defecting to a different team, the Jets might be the perfect home for him, providing the price is right, of course.
