The Chicago Bulls had another mediocre season this past year as they finished with a 39-43 record and they finished in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls got to play postseason basketball as they made it to the play-in tournament, and they won their first game against the Atlanta Hawks. However, they failed to make it to the playoffs when they lost to the Miami Heat in game number two. There were still some positives to take away from the season, and one of those positives was Coby White.

Coby White had an outstanding season for the Bulls and he has emerged as one of the best players on the team. He had his best season in terms of scoring and his numbers went way up from the year prior. In fact, he was extremely close to winning Most Improved Player this season. Tyrese Maxey ended up winning the award, but it was close.

The race for Most Improved Player was really only between Maxey and White, and Maxey barely won it. He finished with a total of 319 points after voting, and White finished with 305. The next closest was Alperen Sengun who finished with 92 points.

During the 2022-23 season, Coby White averaged 9.7 PPG, 2.9 RPG and 2.8 APG. He shot 44.3% from the field and 37.2% from deep. His numbers went up quite a bit this past season.

White averaged 19.1 PPG this season, 4.5 RPG and 5.1 APG. His shooting percentages were pretty similar, but they still went up as he shot 44.7% from the field and 37.6% from three.

This was a huge season for White as he was one of the best players on the Bulls, and he became a guy that can go and get the team a bucket when they need it most. Chicago needs players like that, and they had that with White last season. So, where does White go from here to continue on this upward trend?

Next steps for Coby White

Coby White just finished up the best season of his career, and he wants to be able to keep that momentum going. We did see later in the season once White emerged as a serious scoring threat, teams started to guard him differently, and it was difficult for him. He wasn't quite as consistent when he started to get better defenders on him, and he had some slumps. However, he did a good job of adjusting and finding new ways to score. Adjusting is going to be key for him if he is going to continue to find success.

Teams are going to continue to throw their best defenders at White next season, and he has to be ready for that. The next step for Coby White is to maintain the growth that he went through last year and consistently be one of the best players on the Bulls for years to come. He showed last season that he can do that.

This offseason should be a big one for White. He showed the ability to quickly adjust on the fly last season as his role changed, and now he has a whole offseason to prepare for this role that is still very new to him. White is going to be an exciting player to watch next season.
