In an NFL Draft class that includes quarterbacks such as Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins and Drew Lock, Duke's Daniel Jones has been a relatively forgotten man. Up until recently, anyway.

On Friday, it was revealed that one team has Jones at the top of their quarterback rankings, and NFL analyst Gil Brandt seems to support that decision:

“I. Love. Dan Jones,” Brandt said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I have to say this carefully: When you watch him and you go back (20) years and watch Peyton Manning, you are watching the same guy. He’s athletic. He doesn’t have a rocket for an arm, but neither did Peyton. Very smart.”

Jones is coming off of a senior campaign in which he threw for 2,674 yards, 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 60.5 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 131.7.

Those are hardly fantastic numbers, but due to Jones' good size (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) and mobility (he rushed for 1,323 yards during his collegiate career), there are some who seem to like him as a prospect.

Like Brandt.

“He had an opportunity to have a full scholarship to Princeton,” Brandt said of the NFL Draft prospect. “He said, ‘No, I’m better [at football] than that. I want to walk-on at Duke.’ He completed 60 percent of his passes but they didn’t have any great receivers there to catch the ball. He had an unbelievable workout a month or so ago. A lot of people have turned to like him.”

So, just how high will Jones go in the draft next week? It remains to be seen, but it seems safe to say that he is climbing draft boards.
