An attempted murder charge against a woman who stabbed former NFL wide receiver Terrelle Pryor back in November has been dropped, according to TMZ Sports.

Shalaya Briston stabbed Pryor twice in the chest area with a kitchen knife during an altercation at their home near Pittsburgh, resulting in Pryor initially being listed in critical condition.

Fortunately, Pryor made a full recovery.

The 24-year-old Briston is still facing a felony assault charge that carries up to a 20-year prison sentence. TMZ also reported that Briston's attorneys have claimed self-defense and that Pryor has asked for leniency for her.

Pryor is facing a simple misdemeanor assault charge.

He last played in the NFL in 2018, spending time with both the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. In eight games between the two clubs, Pryor totaled 16 catches for 252 yards and a couple of touchdowns.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football as a quarterback at Ohio State, was originally selected by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft.

He spent the first three years of his career with the Raiders, but did not really get an opportunity until his final season with the club, when he played in 11 games and made nine starts under center, throwing for 1,798 yards, seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

The following season, Pryor linked up with the Cleveland Browns, who converted him to a full-time wide receiver in 2016. The position change proved to be a smashing success at first, as Pryor hauled in 77 receptions for 1,007 yards and four scores that year.

Since then, however, Pryor has accumulated just 36 catches.
