Odell Beckham, Jr., as strange as it sounds, became the most highly-paid wide receiver in league history an an inopportune time. The New York Giants superstar signed his five-year, $95 million contract extension on August 27th of last year, just days before his team kicked off the 2018 season. The Giants went just 5-11, finishing with a bottom-three record for the second consecutive season.

To be clear, there's been no concrete reporting about either Beckham or New York seeking a trade for the 26-year-old. But speculation has run rampant recently nevertheless, in the aftermath of The Athletic's Jay Glazer predicting in a mailbag that Beckham would be traded during the offseason.

It makes sense why both player and team might want to move on, too. The Giants don't have realistic hopes of competing for a Super Bowl next season or in the close beyond, and thus may find it prudent to rid themselves of Odell Beckham's pricey contract to more quickly facilitate the rebuilding process. If New York wants Beckham in the Big Apple, though, he'll almost certainly be there for each of the next two seasons, before his dead cap number gets cut in half come 2021.

But just in case the Giants want to go in a different direction, the helpful folks at BetOnline.ag have inquisitive football fans all set. The sportsbook places the odds that Beckham is playing in New York at -250, an easy high, and rightfully so. Next up? The San Francisco 49ers at +750, followed by the Oakland Raiders all the way down at +1200.

Apparently it could happen, Niners fans. Get excited!
