On Sunday afternoon, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trailed the New York Jets with two minutes remaining, no timeouts and 93 yards to go. Tom Brady then led his team on a game-winning drive, hitting Cyril Grayson for a 33-yard touchdown with 15 seconds left. Normally, that would have been a crazy story on how Tom Brady did it again. Instead, Antonio Brown stole the show.
During the 3rd quarter, Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown reportedly refused to re-enter the game. Reports were that he claimed he was too hurt to go back into the game. Arians then told him to get out. Brown took that literally.
Antonio Brown proceeded to take off his shoulder pads and other equipment, then take his jersey off and toss it into the stands before strolling off the field shirtless.
It sent shock waves across the sports universe. After the game, Arians acknowledged that Brown was no longer a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The crazy incident was also felt outside the world of sports. Comedians, actors, people from all walks of life chimed in.
WWE Superstar Randy Orton shared a split screen image of himself up on the ropes and Brown shirtless on the field.
Reports were that Brown, after leaving the field, attempted to take an Uber out of the stadium. However, he was forced to stay and wait for a police escort. It almost felt like people were trying to track his whereabouts throughout the rest of the evening.
Brown ended up in the back of Danny Chalet's car. Chalet is a semi-famous chauffeur who caters to some of the biggest NFL stars. Chalet posted a video on his Instagram account with AB in the back seat.
Meanwhile, more celebrities and public figures took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
O.J. Simpson called his behavior “inexcusable.” It's usually not a good sign if O.J. Simpson is calling you out for bad behavior. Simpson is accurate in his assessment, whether or not he was too injured to go back into the game. He left his team hanging, in a game they were trailing.
Actor and comedian David Spade shares his sentiments, taking a more comedic approach.
PGA superstar Brooks Koepka even got into the act, pointing to something that most would not be shocked to see; a boxing match between Antonio Brown and one of the Paul brothers.
All jokes aside, it seems pretty clear that Antonio Brown appears to be dealing with mental health problems. This is not the first incident with him and probably will not be the last. Some people are speculating that there are NFL teams that would still want to bring him in because of his talent. I fear this will continue to happen until he gets the help he needs.
