As is the expectation, both Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley are expected to lead the NFL in rushing yardage for the 2020 NFL season, according to the lines on the Caesars Sportsbooks and NBC Sports.

For both CMC and Barkley, 2020 looks to be an important season to either continue their utter dominance of the league as McCaffrey has done, or it is a chance to try and help a rebuilding team get one step closer to being playoff relevant as what Barkley will need to help the Giants with.

Both of these backs are projected over or under 1,249.5 yards for the upcoming season. Whenever that does actually end up commencing, which means that yet again, these two will be expected to make the most out of seven-man stacked boxes and defenders painting them as their number one targets each and every week.

For McCaffrey, the onus falls on him even more now with Cam Newton out the door and Teddy Bridgewater having been brought in as the team’s starting quarterback. While Bridgewater is no rookie and has a ton of experience, learning an offense, especially during these no-contact times, may make it a little tougher to pick up efficiently and quickly. So CMC may be called upon even more than he was last year.

Barkley, not much different than the situation that McCaffrey is in, will be asked to help take the load off of his QB for the season. While Daniel Jones will be going into another year with that much more experience of a starter, the former Duke product is still on a pretty steep learning curve and he will be asked to accelerate his game even more, which is where Barkley comes into the equation.

Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys is third in the projections with 1,229.5 yards, with the likes of Derrick Henry (1,199.5), Joe Mixon (1,059.5) and Dalvin Cook (1,049.5) as other prominent names on the books.
