The closer we get to the 2020 NFL season it seems like the more bad news and uncertainty there is for players and fans alike. And one of the most recent developments will have both New York Jets and New York Giants fans extremely disappointed.

In an image shared via Twitter by NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the Jets and Giants released a joint statement informing the public that both the NFL teams' home games at MetLife Stadium will be played without their home fans. Additionally, the statement mentioned that the Jets' and Giants' 2020 Training Camps and team practices will also be held without an audience.

“Today Governor Murphy announced that , due to the ongoing public health crisis, his Executive order limiting outdoor public gatherings will apply to event at MetLife Stadium until further notice.” The statement read. “We support Governor Murphy's decision in the interest of public health and safety and, until circumstances change, both the Jets and Giants will play our games without the benefit of fans in attendance.”

In an article by NJ Advance Media's Steve Politi, it was reported that the Giants and Jets will be playing their 2020 home games at MetLife Stadium absent their fans after Governor Murphy told the teams that his statewide limit of 500 people at outdoor gatherings would apply to the local NFL teams.

Murphy was quoted saying, “While we look forward to the day we can return to games as normal and cheer from the stands, continued concerns for the health and safety of fans, team members, and staff dictate that our executive order limiting outdoor gatherings does apply to sporting events, including training camp.”

Both the Jets and Giants will report to training camp in the coming weeks.
