Both of the NFL franchises in the Big Apple, The New York Giants, and the New York Jets both moved out of New York City–and out of the state–in 1976 and 1983 respectively. They both stayed there when in 2010, when they built their most recent place to play, Metlife Stadium, in New Jersey. Now, almost 50 years later, a fan is taking the move–and the names of the teams–into his power to force the Giants' and Jets' hands. Abdiell Suero of Greenwich Village had this to say in a class-action lawsuit:

“The class action complaint for an order returning both franchises to New York in 2025 — along with the multibillion payout nearly a half-century after the Giants moved to the swamps of Jersey. If the Giants and Jets want to call themselves New York teams, they need to come back to New York,” said Suero in court papers. “I’ve traveled to and from MetLife Stadium by mass transit and car service, and both ways are a nightmare.” – Plaintiff Abdiell Suero

Court papers also asked for the two NFL franchises to be rebranded as the East Rutherford Giants and Jets for as long as they continue to play in the state of New Jersey.

While this lawsuit sounds good on the surface, no law states that any type of organization must live in the city/state that is attached to their name. If lawsuits like this held any merit, the University of Phoenix would have to stop offering remote classes and classes in other states because they aren't in Phoenix. How about Southwest Airlines? Should they be sued for flying to Wisconsin? Do you see where this is going? This lawsuit isn't going anywhere, just like Antonio Brown's career.
