The Carolina Panthers travel to New York to take on the New York Giants for an NFC showdown. It’s time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Panthers-Giants prediction and pick based on Panthers Giants odds.

Both of these teams are struggling at this point in the season. The Panthers started out hot by winning their first three games. Since then they are 0-3 after losing tough and close games. The Giants are 1-5 and don't look like they can beat anyone right now. They are one of the more depleted teams in the league, with multiple stars injured. With Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, and other crucial starters out, it's going to be tough to win games.

This should still be an entertaining matchup, but Panthers star Christian McCaffrey will not make his return in Week 7. He was recently placed on the IR and will be out for at least another three weeks. The Panthers do come into this week as a favorite nonetheless.

Here’s how the bookmakers have set the lines for Sunday's game.

NFL Odds: Panthers-Giants Odds

Carolina Panthers -3 (-105)

New York Giants +3 (-115)

Over 42.5 points (-106)

Why The Panthers Could Cover The Spread

The Panthers can cover this 3-point spread pretty easily. The Giants aren't putting up much of a fight at this point in the year, and the Panthers can take advantage of that. It's clear that Sam Darnold plays better with CMC next to him, but the entire team plays better. The team has yet to figure out how to play well without him, but this matchup seems favorable. That's part of the NFL odds reality here.

The Panthers' defense is stacked, and it got a lot better when they traded for corner Stephon Gilmore. He is slowly returning from a brutal injury last year. When he does suit up for Carolina, then the defense will be one of the best in the league. As for Sunday, the Panthers just need a simple game plan to come out on top. If they force Jones to commit turnovers, then that should be the x-factor. This could be a breakout game for them, as they are in huge need of a win. This is one thought process in formulating a Panthers Giants pick.

Why The Giants Could Cover The Spread

This won't be an easy one for them, but here is how they can cover the spread. QB Daniel Jones will need to play his absolute best on Sunday. He committed three turnovers last week in the blowout loss to the LA Rams. He will need to quickly shove that aside because he has another tough test in front of him. Without Barkley or Golladay, it will be very difficult to find a constant rhythm. Jones will need to keep possessions alive and slowly work their way down the field. Trick plays and desperate play calls are not going to work against this Panthers' defense.

If the Giants are going to cover, then Jones will need to play his best. The defense will take on an easier task without McCaffery, but receivers like D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and Terrace Marshall Jr. can be a difficult matchup with. We will need to see something we haven't seen from the Giants on Sunday if they are going to come out on top. This is an honest way to frame a Panthers Giants prediction.

Final Panthers-Giants Prediction & Pick

I expect the Panthers to get the job done on Sunday. This game has the potential to be another blowout for the Giants, who have given up 82 points over their last two games. The Panthers should have no problem winning this game by at least a touchdown. This current spread expects a closer game, but I don't.
