Free-agent linebacker Shaquille Leonard is reportedly visiting with the Dallas Cowboys today, and “should be visiting later this week” with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Shaquille Leonard was released last week by the Indianapolis Colts, in what was a bit of a surprise move by the team. Leonard was a three-time All-Pro linebacker for the team, but had struggled with injuries in recent years. He was one of the best linebackers in the NFL when he came into the league with Indianapolis in 2018, but the team decided to move in another direction.

Leonard is an experienced linebacker that could help out a contending team, even though he is likely not the same player that he used to be when he first came into the NFL. Both the Cowboys and Eagles could have a use for him, so it is interesting to see the NFC East rivals seemingly competing for his services.

It will be worth monitoring any other potential visits Leonard goes on, but these are the two that we know of right now.

The Cowboys are currently 8-3, and trail the Eagles by two games in the NFC East. The two teams played a couple of weeks ago in Philadelphia, where the Eagles came out on top 28-23. The two teams will matchup in Dallas on Dec. 10.

While Dallas is still trying to make a run at the division, the likelihood is that the Eagles will take the NFC East and the Cowboys will be a Wild Card team in the NFC.
