With NFL Week 12 action set to get underway on Thanksgiving day with three games, as usual, it is now time to sit back, relax and get ready for a full day of football. Whether your team plays on Thursday, Sunday, Monday, or is on their bye this week…all NFL fans know that Thanksgiving is a day for football, food, and family. But, before you can do that, you probably want to put in a wager or two…right? Of course, you do–that is why you are reading this article, to get some NFL betting advice!

To start, when reading the “line” that we have, the number with the “plus or minus” next to it is the “spread.” Which is the number you need to add or subtract from your team’s total to get the win. So, if you are picking a team -6, that means they would need to win by seven for you to win. The number to the right of the spread is the “vig,” which is the fee that you pay to the casino to make the bet. If the vig is -110, then the better can make $1 off of every $1.10 he wins. As always, all of our odds are brought to you by FanDuel SportsBooks.

NFL Week 12: Best Thanksgiving day bets to make ASAP

Detroit: +3 (-110) vs. Chicago

Last week we told you to take the Detroit Lions plus the points and this week is going to be no different. They have been playing better teams than the Chicago Bears recently and have been playing them close. This Lions team is as hungry as any team in the league to get a win considering they are the only winless team remaining and they might even get their quarterback Jared Goff back from injury as well.

The Bears have pressure as well, as head coach Matt Nagy is rumored to be the first coach in the history of the Bears’ current 100-plus year ownership to be fired mid-season. That pressure will lead to the Bears losing this game, or at best, winning by a field goal. Don’t forget, despite their winless record, Detroit is 6-4 against the spread (ATS) in 2021 (7th in the NFL) and Chicago is just 4-6 against the spread (28th in the league.)

Las Vegas: +7.5 (-110) @ Dallas

This is the toughest game of the day for us to pick, as the Las Vegas Raiders have looked very bad the past few weeks–led by the regression of quarterback Derek Carr–and the Dallas Cowboys have had a recent slip-up. Neither team can afford to lose this game as Dallas is still vying for the number one seed in the NFC and Las Vegas has dropped three in a row. Despite the aforementioned slip-up–a home loss to the Denver Broncos a few weeks back –, the Cowboys seem like the far superior team. But, sometimes you have to go against your feelings and the numbers and take a risk.

It’s not like it is necessarily a huge risk anyways, as there is a chance that las Vegas outright wins the game, and having the added seven and a half points is a huge bonus. Go against your gut, and go against the ATS numbers, as Dallas has been the second-best team in the league ATS in 2021 and Vegas has been the third-worst.

Buffalo: -6 (-110) @ New Orleans

With almost identical ATS records and the New Orleans home-field extra three points factored into the spread already, it seems like the folks at the sportsbooks have the Bills as more than a touchdown better than the Saints. If this game were in Buffalo, the spread might be -12 in favor of the Bills. The game is in New Orleans but will make that much of a difference?

Coming off of a second embarrassing loss in three weeks, the Bills are looking to rebound the same way they did in their first awful defeat– by coming away with a huge victory. The blueprint for beating the Bills has been put out there, you defend Josh Allen to throw and run and react to the running backs getting the ball–and that is something the Saints do very well, but in the end, the Saints’ uncertain quarterback situation will be too much for New Orleans to overcome.

So, there you have it, the three best bets to make this Thanksgiving day. Come back and tell us your winning stories in the ClutchPoints Community Discord and if they miss, be sure to come back next week as the series continues. Whether you bet one, bet them all individually or play them all in a parlay, we wish you all the best as you enjoy your days with your families.
