The Buffalo Bills tried to trade for Antonio Brown before the Pittsburgh Steelers dealt him to the Oakland Raiders, but Brown killed the deal as it was in the final stages.

Well, apparently, the Bills were in the market for star wide receivers in general, as they also talked to the New York Giants about Odell Beckham Jr. before Beckham was traded to the Cleveland Browns.

According to Peter King of NBC Sports, the Giants called the Bills about Beckham, but that Buffalo was not biting. King doesn't really go into detail about what may have been mentioned in trade discussions, but it's fairly easy to glean why the Bills balked.

If Brown did not want to go to Buffalo, then it seems probable that Beckham would not have been thrilled about heading to the Bills, either, and Buffalo surely does not want a disgruntled wide out causing problems in its locker room.

King also adds that the Bills were the only call the Giants made, so, obviously, Beckham was drawing a heck of a lot of interest, so much so that New York did not even have to actually shop him.

The Giants eventually traded the 26-year-old to the Browns for the 17th overall pick, a third-rounder, and young safety Jabrill Peppers.

Beckham, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by New York in the first round (12th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. He went on to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons, but the last two years, Beckham played in just 16 games combined due to injury issues.
