The Carolina Panthers have lacked at the wide receiver position outside of D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel. Luckily for them, Chris Hogan is set to return as Carolina has taken him off of injured reserve.
This past offseason, the Panthers chose to sign Hogan to a one-year deal worth $1.45 million. Before arriving in Carolina, Hogan had spent his previous three seasons with the New England Patriots.
During his time in New England, Hogan averaged 35 receptions, 550 yards, and four touchdowns per season. Above all, he won two Super Bowls with the Patriots and had 17 receptions for 332 yards and two scores in the playoffs in 2016.
With the Panthers, Hogan was only able to play in four games as he caught just three passes for 24 yards. Unfortunately, a knee injury caused Hogan to end up on injured reserve before he could get acclimated into the offense.

“It’s a frustrating process. It took longer than I expected. Just kept grinding every single day,” Hogan said on Wednesday, via the team's official website. “Today felt good. We’ll see how the rest of the week goes. I was extremely encouraged.”
Regardless of his official status, Carolina could undoubtedly use another proven wide receiver on the field. Throughout the season, Moore and Samuel have combined for 123 catches, 1,627 yards, and nine touchdowns.
As for the rest of the wide receivers on the roster, they've contributed 29 receptions, 297 yards, and zero touchdowns altogether. Despite him being a free agent in 2020, Hogan seems adamant on helping Carolina finish the season strong.
