Since refracturing his surgically-repaired foot in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen has been on a steady path toward returning to the field this year.
Olsen has continued to make some significant strides in his recovery that has seen him rejoin the team in practice over the last several days that has put his return in the near future barring any setbacks. According to Jourdan Rodrigue of the Charlotte Observer, he has voiced on Wednesday that he is hoping to be back in the mix for Sunday's tilt against the Washington Redskins.

The 33-year-old appears to be well on his way toward being able to make his return to the field in near future. Aside from feeling soreness and a little pain, there hasn't been any reason for concern that would cause the team to think otherwise, which should put him in line to play against the Redskins this upcoming weekend. Granted, it may be in a limited role to see how his foot reacts to playing on it, but he will likely be in line for some playing time.
Throughout his tenure with the Panthers, Greg Olsen has been a huge part of the offensive puzzle when healthy as Cam Newton's favorite target in the passing game. This has led to him putting together some productive campaigns that saw him become the first tight end in NFL history to notch more than 1,000 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons. He has recorded more than 60 catches five straight years that have all come with the Panthers where he has been a primary feature in the passing game.
These next few days of practice will be a huge determining factor for his availability for this week's game as he will need a few practices under his belt first to prove he is primed to play.
