The Cleveland Browns added running back Kareem Hunt to their ever-growing stable of offensive talent this offseason, but while Hunt has been with the team during training camp and preseason, he will have to serve an eight-game suspension to start the regular season and won't even be allowed to be at the Browns' facility.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield laments the fact that Hunt can't even be around the team, saying his absence will be a tough pill to swallow for both Hunt and the rest of the club:

“It hurts him not to be around there because if you can be around your teammates, that can help you keep a positive attitude, and that definitely helps,” said Mayfield, according to Tom Withers of The Associated Press. “So that’s tough to hear.”

Hunt's suspension stems from a February 2018 incident in which he assaulted a woman outside of a Cleveland hotel.

The 24-year-old was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs at the time and began the 2018 campaign with the team, playing in the first 11 games of the season before the video of his episode in Cleveland surfaced in November.

Hunt was then immediately released by the Chiefs after two years with the club.

The Willoughby, Oh. native, who played his collegiate football at Toledo, was originally selected by Kansas City in the third round (86th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He had a tremendous rookie year, racking up a league-leading 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. Hunt had totaled 824 yards and seven scores before being released by the Chiefs last year.
