The Cleveland Browns brought in Jarvis Landry this offseason to be their number one receiver and had high expectations for what he could accomplish. He hasn't had the success that a number one receiver expects to have and he said he is trying not to focus on the numbers.
“I've got to stay out of the numbers,” said Landry via cleveland.com. “I've got to stay out of the talk of (nine) targets, two catches and all of that. If you don't watch the game, you don't understand that some of the targets aren't catchable, are throwaways, and a lot of times if they're throwaways I put myself in a position to raise my hand like he was throwing it to me when he might've not been, just so we don't get an intentional grounding or whatever it is.”
Landy would like to have better games then he did last game against the Los Angeles Chargers where he only had two touchdowns for 11 yards but not for himself, he would like to help the team more. He is trying to focus on being a team player and he knows more catches would really help the team.
Article Continues BelowBrowns quarterback Baker Mayfield has fielded a lot of the blame for Landry's struggle because of a lack of chemistry. Mayfield also thinks there are a lot of throws that he has missed and that has hurt Landry's lack of production.
“He puts that on himself, but I do think that he throws a lot of catchable balls,” said Landry. “To take some of that away from him, I have to do a better job of catching them more and making the plays for him. I'm working really hard at that, trying to do that and trying to earn more and more of his trust every day in practice.”
